Fake drugs often have little therapeutic value, can seriously exacerbate the illness of patients by giving them a false sense of security and can sometimes even adversely affect the user's health. Their sub-therapeutic nature also contributes to the increasing problem of drug resistance, especially to chronic infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV.

Why Africa?
Every drug and therapy is only as good as its quality. A counterfeit pharmaceutical product as a product that is intentionally and fraudulently mislabeled with respect to identity and/or source.
Counterfeit drugs are a monumental challenge in the world but more so in developing countries and represent a two-fold danger to the public. Counterfeit drugs that do not contain the proper active ingredient in the proper quantity result in the patient's condition going untreated, getting worse or leading to development of resistance if an infectious disease is the target or counterfeit drugs may contain toxic materials that cause harm to the body.
Many African nations have very limited ability in determining whether a suspect pharmaceutical product is genuine or counterfeit. Primark Life science offers accurate and reliable quality control tests which require skilled personnel and the appropriate laboratory facilities.
FT-NIR spectroscopy is the most promising technology and already well-established for pharmaceutical quality testing. Primark Life Science has the ability to supply mobile units and help erect networks that will ramp up nationwide fights against counterfeit and adulterated drugs.
